How to Pay

Permaculture is a cultural design science that spirals through all aspects of human society.  It is important that we explore ways for my design courses to be sustainable and accessible for students.  Here are some options and ideas to pay for the course.

Early bird cost is sliding scale of $850-900 if PAID IN FULL  by April 1.

Course pricing is sliding scale $900-$1300. I accept trades and barter for course fees (see below), and in the spirit of Fair Share and Solidarity Economics, I offer discounts. Please contact me I WANT TO MAKE THIS AS FINANCIALLY ACCESSIBLE AS POSSIBLE

A suggested payment tier based on a chart from the Resilience Hub in Portland, Maine is below.

TIER #1: $900-$1000 – Lower income folks who are un/underemployed or have other financial issues.

TIER #2: $1000-1100 Higher income households; represents the true cost of tuition.

TIER #3: $1100-1300 – Folks experiencing abundance in the form of financial resources. This option helps spread cost around

Total Payments will be due by the FIRST DAY OF CLASS unless payment plan has been arranged.

$250 non-refundable deposit is due to hold limited spots.

Payment plans are available, as well as trades and barters. JUST ASK! We want to make this class as accessible financially for people. We welcome creative payment options.  We are paying all presenters and teachers, plus providing lunch and transportation to site visits.

Sliding Scale:

  • Sliding scale offers students the opportunity to reflect on their personal financial situation and balance that with the needs of the facilitators. I ask that those interested in this option consider the value they would like to offer for their own education.
  • I encourage those who are able to pay more to do so, this supports the facilitators in offering the course to people with limited financial resources and creates a more socially and economically diverse group.
  • Those who are inspired to pay more than the course maximum contribute to a scholarship fund that offers accessibility for those unable to pay the minimum.

Community Support

  •   If you are interested in taking the course you could offer someone in your community or family a design after the course is finished.
  • Another way is to talk with multiple family members, community members, and friends to contribute to a course fund, and offer them support with their properties, gardens, projects, and other needs that they need support with.

Barter/Trade

  • Work trade during the course is not ideal, as students miss out on crucial content.
  • We do offer discounts for those who would be willing to make lunches for course days and bring it to class.
  • Work trade before the course begins, is a potential.  Work would be home support for facilitators (depending on the skillsets of the applicant).
  • If you think you have a skill or trade offering that may be of value for taking the course, such as frequent flier miles, bit coins, etc., please contact us.
  • All trades or discounts must me agreed upon before the course begins.

Payment Plans

  • This offers people a chance to pay as they go and is less disruptive to monthly financial obligations.
  • All payments must be complete by the 3rd week of the course and can begin before the course begins.
  • There is a deposit for the payment plan and is by arrangement.
